In an effort to fulfill persevering with demand we can be working a ten week upholstery course on Monday evening – 6.00 to 8.30 pm, starting September 24th.
The upholstery courses are taught by Jan and/or Angela at our goal built workshop in Almondbury below the title of Manorhouse College of Upholstery. We’re only a mile from Huddersfield city centre and are simple to find with plenty of parking onsite. Jan and Angela are both City and Guild certified and have previously taught upholstery courses and sewing courses for Kirklees College.
College students work in small teams, with combined abilities and ages. New students are encouraged to start with a small merchandise of furnishings similar to a drop in seat, a small footstool, or perhaps a headboard. In case you have a larger or more difficult item that requires re-upholstering speak to Jan first to make arrangements and to verify suitability. All gear is obtainable to make use of, however students are welcome to deliver their own tools if they prefer. College students can convey their own item of furnishings or assist may be provided to seek out a suitable item from the school’s personal provide for a small cost.
Recommendation and teaching could be very hands on and practical and college students will study at their very own pace in a pleasant and enjoyable surroundings. College students with no experience are welcome and will probably be taught the basic upholstery skills required to progress to a complete upholstery project. Students with some experience and a desire to refine skills or study new methods are equally welcome.
Both modern and conventional methods could be learnt. The subsequent block of lessons begins September for 10 weeks in 2.5 hour periods.
